Malika Andrews Parents - Free HD Wallpaper Download 2025

I have always been a bit of a sports media tragic, and few broadcasters have caught my attention quite like Malika Andrews. Watching her anchor NBA Today with such poise, I often found myself wondering about the people who shaped her. Behind every confident on-camera presence is a family story, and in Malika's case, that story begins in Oakland, California, with her mum, Caren Andrews, and her dad, Mike Andrews. Digging into her upbringing gave me a real appreciation for just how much her parents' support and values have influenced the journalist she has become.

How Malika Andrews' Parents Kept Their Family Connected

One thing that struck me about the Andrews household is how close-knit it has stayed, even as Malika's career has taken off. With her travel schedule packed with NBA road trips and studio shows, catching up over a quick video call has become the family's lifeline. Her parents raised both Malika and her sister Kendra to prioritise family, and that bond clearly never frayed. It reminds me a lot of my own mob — no matter how far you roam, there's always someone waiting on the other end of the screen with dinner on the stove and a hundred questions about your week.

The Google Meet Icon: A Small Symbol of a Big Family Bond

In today's world, a simple video chat app icon can represent something pretty meaningful. For Malika, who has spoken openly about her mixed heritage — her dad Mike is Jewish and her mum Caren is African-American — those family conversations were surely part of how she learned to navigate different worlds with empathy and confidence. That upbringing seems to shine through in her interviewing style: curious, respectful, and unafraid to ask the hard questions. Her sister Kendra followed a similar path into sports journalism, which says a lot about the household Caren and Mike built. Two daughters chasing bylines in the same competitive industry is no accident; it's the result of parents who encouraged curiosity and backed their girls when the road got bumpy.

Malika attended the University of Portland and worked her way up through local reporting before landing at ESPN in 2018. Through all the long nights and grinding beats, her parents remained her sounding board. I reckon that's the real lesson here: talent opens doors, but it's the steady love of family — often expressed over an ordinary weeknight video call — that keeps you grounded once you're through them. As a fan watching from afar, that perspective has genuinely changed the way I see her work.
